Portrait commissions
Fancy giving your loved one(s) a special gift this year? A portrait of their adorable grandchild, or a beautiful couples portrait? Now’s the time to book in your order to get it in time for the Big Day. Select from a range of sizes and painting surfaces to suit your preference. Payment can be made in full, or in instalments once you have secured your booking with a deposit (remainder due on completion, before shipping/delivery).
The Process
Once we have confirmed the size and surface you would like me to use, I create a digital mockup of your painting so you can see the crop and get an idea of how any changes we have agreed on (such a new background colour, flowers, change in composition) will look. As I work on creating your painting I take process photos which I am happy to share with you along the way or after the painting is completed. Some people like to see how it is coming along while others prefer to wait for the big reveal!
Portraits from Photos
I can work from photos you already have, providing the quality and lighting are good enough. I have managed to work wonders in the past where new images are not an option, but starting from high resolution images is alway the best option. If you have some photos in mind, I am alsways happy to take a look to see if they will work and edit them digitally wherever possible.
Mini “Photoshoots” and Live Sittings
While working from old favourite photographs can be convenient, it can be special to create a portrait from new images where we can set up the lighting, accessories and props as desired.
During a sitting, I like take plenty of photographs and rough sketches as we get to know each other. It can feel quite unnatural to pose or sit for someone so the aim is to make you feel comfortable and natural. During this time, I will also complete one or two quick colour study paintings. These are then used to complete your special painting when I get back to my studio.
